HP LP3065

30in all-rounder
From the moment you switch this monitor on, its colour performance is impressive. This can be attributed to HP’s new generation of panels designed with improved colour performance in mind. In our tests it certainly had an edge over other 30in offerings, with more saturated and punchier colours.

Although the maximum brightness on this monitor is low, the wider contrast range means that the performance is excellent. Uniformity is also good, with no grey areas.

Usefully, the LP3065 includes three DVI sockets, which means that it’s easy to share it between two desktops and a laptop. As is standard, gamma, contrast and other video basics are all set by the graphics card, and not synthesised in the monitor, and accessories are limited to a single USB hub. The LP3065 can be detached from its stand and mounted on a VESAstandard arm.

However, the requisite quickrelease catch isn’t provided in the box. Video performance was okay, with some noticeable smearing, although less than on most of the competition.

Overall this is a solid, professional product.
